5 March 2009: Exciting new plans are unveiled

Plans have been unveiled for the world's first heritage amusement park and the restoration of the Dreamland Cinema into an exciting new entertainment complex.

The Dreamland of tomorrow will echo the thrilling theme parks from the past, celebrate MARGATE'S heritage and provide a unique SEASIDE experience for all!

A masterplan for the park has been developed by Levitt Bernstein Architects with Paris-based theme park designer Jean-Marc Toussaint.

Dreamland, Margate (UK) is one of Britain's most famous seaside amusement parks. The park, which opened in 1920, is home to the Grade II listed Scenic Railway roller coaster, the oldest operating roller coaster in the country and Britain's first listed amusement park ride.  It is also hugely important to the area's local economy as the Isle of Thanet's most-visited tourist attraction. In January 2003, the owner of Dreamland announced that the park was to close and be redeveloped.
