Terms and Conditions

Please make sure you read and accept the following terms and conditons before entering: 

 

All photo entries must have been taken in Margate (includes the areas of Cliftonville, Westbrook and Westgate.

  • You can only enter one age category of the competition. 
  • You can enter a photo into each theme (up to six photographs). 
  • The closing date for receipt of all competition entries is Friday 26 November 2010.
  • The winner/s will be selected by a judging and public voting process.
  • Entries must be digital images 300dpi and sent to thisismargate@thanet.co.uk  (original image files must be a maximum of 5MB in size as an uncompressed file if sent by email).  You can enter photos with a maximum file size of 20MB, but these should be sent in on disc to the postal address supplied.
  • Thanet District Council (TDC) does not accept any responsibility for late or lost entries. We are not able to return any photos submitted for the competition.
  • While retaining copyright, by entering this competition you grant to TDC and our partners, a non-exclusive licence to use and reproduce the winning photos and runner-up photos without charge in all marketing and promotional work for Margate and Thanet including printed materials, online and at exhibitions and events for a period of three years. 
  • TDC regrets that it will be unable to return the photos submitted.
  • In submitting your entry, you are agreeing and acknowledging that the use of your photograph(s) will not constitute infringement of any rights, including, without limitation, copyright, defamation, privacy, or publicity rights. You hereby release us from any and all claims, liabilities, responsibilities, or damages arising from transmitting, reproducing, distributing, displaying, or publishing your original photographs.  
  • By entering this photo competition, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions stated. By sending your photo entry, you are agreeing that the photos submitted are original photographs created by you and to your knowledge do not infringe upon the literary, artistic, dramatic, musical, personal, privacy, publicity, civil, copyright, trademark, property, or other rights of any third party.
  • By entering, the winner (s) consents to use of his/her name and photograph for advertising or promotional purposes up to a period of three years. 
  • We reserve the right to disqualify or not use any images deemed inappropriate towards the reputation of Margate.
  • If you are under 18, then you must get parental or guardian permission for entering (this should either by written approval by post or e-mail with the parental/ guardians contact details)
  • You cannot enter the competition if you are related to anyone on the judging panel (includes wives or husbands).
